Access to extension services

More farmers will now have access to extension services after the County Government flagged off ten motorcycles for Molo and Njoro Sub counties under the KCEP-CRAL program.
When flagging off the motorcycles, Agriculture CECM, Dr. Immaculate Maina, urged the Sub County and Ward Agricultural officers to go beyond their call of duty to support the National and County agendas to push for food productivity.
The project has gotten International recognition since it bridges the digital divide through the E-Voucher system, engaging farmers who acquire subsidized inputs on time.
The officers were urged to ensure safety while riding and offering services.
Agriculture Chief Officer, Mr. Kibet Maina, said the County has set aside a budget of more than Ksh. 400,000 to ensure the provision of relevant accessories and safety gear for the riders in the County.
The KCEP-CRAL program has been able to ensure transition from subsistence to commercialization of produce by cereal farmers in addition to an increased production.
The County through the program also distributed maize shellers to farmer groups in the two sub counties used to separate the grains from cobs.
