Improved kienyeji month-old chicks

Farmers in Nakuru County will now be able to produce more than 200 eggs per hen every year.
This is a surplus to the normal production based averagely at 100 eggs.
Yesterday the County distributed 3,800 improved kienyeji month-old chicks to over 13 youth and women groups in Biashara ward, Naivasha Subcounty.
Among them Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) under the Improved Local Chicken Stimulus Project for economic vitality.
According to County Chief Livestock Production officer, Mr. James Kamau, so far the ward has received an approximate of 13,000 chicks since inception of the project.
Farmers have also received disease resistant birds with fast maturity and will be able to improve their breeds.
